Averaging a 13% annual increase in new client enrollment over the past several years, this unprecedented growth has created a critical need for a larger, more efficient facility.  This much-needed expansion will immediately provide additional space for storage, distribution and food preparation – allowing Open Hand to serve more clients with medically-appropriate meals and further expand our revenue-generating Good Measure Meals™ operations.

With the additional 17,000 square foot facility secured, Design firm TaC Studios immediately began work on spatial plans and architectural renderings for the joining of it and our current Ottley Drive building into one expanded campus.

With the official announcement by Open Hand’s Board of Directors of the launch of the $4.2 million Expansion Campaign to support strategic long-term growth plans, Open Hand is moving aggressively toward the realization of its goal of making prevention-based nutrition the catalyst for healthy living and affordable healthcare.

“CNC positions Open Hand as a pre-eminent model for nutrition-based healthcare support agencies of the future. Our expanded campus is critical to the success of CNC, and thus our entire Board is committed to seeing this campaign to a successful conclusion,” said Jackie Yeaney, president of the Open Hand Board of Directors.

To ensure that the funding is secured to make the vision of our new space a reality, Open Hand leaders have approached a number of longtime individual donors and highly respected philanthropic foundations to provide “lead” campaign gifts necessary to meet the ultimate campaign goal.  The response, even in difficult economic times, has been very affirming.

Recent contributions have brought the campaign to the $4 million mark, bringing us ever closer to our $4.2 million goal we need to reach to secure the $1 million challenge grant from the Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation.

“We’re very appreciative to all those who have invested in the campaign thus far,” said Todd Tautfest, Open Hand Board member and Chairman of the Expansion Campaign Steering Committee. “We’re now at a point where we’re ready to reach out to all of Open Hand’s family of constituents in hopes they will help us reach our $4.2 million goal.”
