Bequests are gifts made through your will. They can be made in the form of a specific gift of cash or property, a general sum of money, or a percentage of the remainder of an estate or trust and they are distributed at your death. The full amount of your bequest is usually deductible for estate tax purposes.
The following is suggested language for including Open Hand in your will:
“I give, devise and bequeath to Project Open Hand/Atlanta, Inc. located at 176 Ottley Drive, Atlanta, GA 30324 for its general purposes, the sum of $______ (or state a fraction or percentage of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal).”
